BB BioDisc repair Douglas carried out after a new customer contacted us when their loss of rotation alarm triggered. The plant had suffered years without servicing, leading to multiple mechanical failures. A major drive-train rebuild was required to restore reliable operation.

✅ Issues found on inspection

This older BB BioDisc showed multiple faults linked to lack of maintenance:

• Drive shaft: Corroded and worn, causing excessive movement across the rotor pack.
• Radial arms & clamps: Four arms and twelve clamps failed or cracked, leaving the rotor unstable.
• Pulleys & belt: Worn pulleys and a worn belt prevented correct drive and tracking.
• Bearings: Extremely worn bearings at drive-end and non-drive-end, adding drag and heat.

The combination prevented rotation and triggered the loss of rotation alarm, risking total plant failure.

🔧 Repairs carried out

We removed the old rotors with our lifting frame for safe access, then rebuilt the drive train:

• Replaced the drive shaft with a corrosion-resistant part.
• Installed 4x new radial arms and 12x clamps to secure the rotor pack.
• Fitted new pulleys with a locking element and a new drive belt; set alignment and tension to spec.
• Replaced drive-end and non-drive-end bearings to restore smooth operation.

Final checks included rotor alignment, belt tracking, current draw and alarm proving. The BioDisc now runs quietly and efficiently.
