Klargester BF BioDisc & Pump Chamber Service – Barrhead, Glasgow
Klargester BF BioDisc service Barrhead — We recently completed a full service on a Klargester BF BioDisc sewage treatment plant and final effluent pump chamber for The Hurlet Crematorium on the outskirts of Barrhead, Glasgow.
The visit included full mechanical checks, bearing lubrication, drive chain lubrication, alarm testing, pump chamber servicing and replacement of a failed non-return valve.
Klargester BF BioDisc Service
The BioDisc was inspected and serviced to ensure the mechanical drive system, alarm system and treatment process were operating correctly.
- Drive-end bearing greased
- Non-drive-end bearing greased
- 3 new automatic grease cartridges fitted
- Drive chain lubricated
- All clamps checked and confirmed tight
- Recycle pump removed, cleaned and tested
- Loss of rotation alarm tested
- Trip alarm tested
- BioDisc confirmed operating correctly
Final Effluent Pump Chamber Service
The final effluent pump chamber was also fully serviced and tested. On arrival, one pump was recirculating due to a failed non-return valve. The faulty valve was replaced and the chamber was returned to correct operation.
- Failed 2" non-return valve replaced
- 4 float switches cleaned and tested
- Both pumps removed, cleaned and tested
- Both pumps tested in manual and automatic operation
- Both non-return valves confirmed working correctly
- High-level alarm tested and confirmed operational
- Full pump cycles tested successfully
Remote Telemetry Upgrade Approved
The customer was also advised to upgrade the current alarm setup to a remote telemetry system.
The existing alarm setup only provides local audible warning for high level. This means pump faults or developing issues may not be noticed until the chamber level rises.
The telemetry quotation has now been accepted, which will allow fault alerts to be sent by phone call, text message or email.
Why This Service Matters
A failed non-return valve had already started affecting pump chamber performance. If left unresolved, this could have caused increased chamber levels, repeated pump cycling, a flooded BioDisc or blocked drains.
This was a close call — if this system hadn't been serviced when it was, the consequences could’ve been far worse.
Routine servicing keeps BioDisc systems lubricated, protects bearings and drive components, confirms alarm operation and ensures pump chambers are working correctly.
We provide Klargester BF BioDisc servicing, pump chamber maintenance, non-return valve replacement and telemetry upgrades across Barrhead, Glasgow and the full of Scotland.
