BD BioDisc & Pump Chamber Service - Garvarld, West Linton
Just recently we completed a full annual service on a BD BioDisc and carried out our first service inspection of the site's sewage pump chamber in Garvarld, West Linton.
🌀 BD BioDisc Service
The sewage treatment plant was operational on arrival. We carried out a full mechanical and electrical inspection. The drive motor was pulling 0.71 amps and receiving a healthy 230V supply. The control panel on site was an older Kingspan panel and was operating correctly.
We thoroughly checked the rotor assembly, chains, pulleys, bearings, and clamps — all were in good condition. The disc pack was also inspected in stages: the first stage showed a pale, whitish biofilm, likely due to harsh chemicals being used on site. However, the second stage of the disc pack displayed a healthy brown growth, meaning biological treatment was still functioning well.
No tankering was required at this visit.
🔧 Sewage Pump Chamber Inspection
We also carried out our first service on the site's raw sewage pump chamber. The chamber contains a single KSB AMAPORTER 601-SE-1 submersible pump and is managed by a T-T Controls panel. The pump was successfully lifted and inspected using a tripod and chain hoist.
No signs of blockage or damage were found. The electrical supply and control functions were tested and confirmed to be operational. We also checked the high-level alarm function and confirmed correct activation on test.
We’ll continue to monitor this chamber as part of the property's maintenance going forward.
