Pump Chamber Service – Kirkintilloch

Pump Chamber Service – Kirkintilloch

Recently, we carried out a pump chamber service on a dual sewage pumping station in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire. Regular servicing ensures pumping systems remain reliable and helps prevent unexpected failures.

System Overview

  • Pumps: Two Lowara submersible pumps
  • Control panel: Klargester dual pump control panel
  • Panel voltage: 230V

Service Work Completed

  • Pumps tested in manual and automatic operation
  • Duty/assist operation confirmed and alternating correctly
  • Float switches cleaned and adjusted to correct operating heights
  • High level alarm tested
  • Non-return valves inspected and confirmed working
  • Full pump cycles tested
  • Pump chamber pressure washed to inspect structural condition

The chamber was pressure washed to remove build-up and allow a clear inspection of the tank walls and structure, ensuring there were no hidden cracks or structural defects.

Electrical Readings

  • Pump 1 current draw: 4.05 amps
  • Pump 2 current draw: 4.17 amps
  • Incoming panel voltage: 230V

During inspection, the high level float was found to be set too high, meaning the alarm would only activate when the chamber was nearly full. This was lowered to the correct height and the alarm system retested.
